Running for Rescues is a pet-friendly 5K fun run & walk benefiting the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS).
The Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS) was founded in 1969 and cares for hundreds of homeless, injured, abandoned and abused animals every year. They take pride in the fact that they are a no-kill shelter and they care for all animals until they are adopted. The services of their animal shelter reach all segments of society.

The run begins and ends at Dakota Meadows Middle School in North Mankato, MN. Runners and walkers will navigate through the surrounding trails, equiped with water stations for you and your pets throughout the course.

Q: Do I have to run? Or is it ok if I walk?
A: This is a fun run & walk and is open to all skill levels and abilities. Walking is perfectly acceptable.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Yes, absolutely! This 5K is very pet friendly. The 2018 race had 195 dogs participate. Each dog gets their own finisher medal as well as their human friend.
Q: I don’t have a dog to run with. Can I still enter?
A: Yes, of course. Running with a furry friend is encouraged but definitely not required.
Q: Do I have to have my dog on a leash?
A: Yes. There will be a lot of people and dogs at the event. There will be lots of different personality types there. Please respect each other’s space.
Q: Can I use a retractable leash for my dog?
A: No. Please limit the leash to a fixed leader, 6 feet maximum. This is to help protect personal space and keep the course safe for runners and dogs alike.
Q: Will there be water available on the course?
A: Yes. We will have two water stations on the course, and one at the finish line. Each will have water for humans and bowls for the dogs.
